Indian Democracy at work!

Upper Crust IT belt Suburb Koramangala is a reserved seat for Backward Class Women in the BBMP poll scheduled for 28th March 2010.

Koramangala, an upper crust (IT Belt) suburb of Bangalore (India’s IT Capital) is a reserved constituency in BBMP polls for guess who? BACKWARD CLASS (A) WOMEN…. LOL

Now that’s a master stroke by the BJP in power here in Karnataka (the state) : If you can’t fool them (educated, upper class, thinking voters), then consign the ward to ‘mandatory quota’ and notch up one for “women” & “Backward” empowerment !!! Doesn’t matter that  there is no population of these kind of people in the constituency!

Guess what? The Election Commission itself says that less than 3% of population in this ward is “lower” or “backward” class…!!!!

That’s Indian democracy at work for you.

And it’ll stay that way, since now there’s even less interest amongst the “educated, elite” to come out and protest let alone vote!

That’s Indian democracy at work.
