The Trap of Being Human is captured in a simple box with eight segments:
AGREE/RIGHT/CORRECT/TRUE | DISAGREE/WRONG/FALSE |
LIKE/WANT/SHOULD | DISLIKE/AVOID/FIX/CHANGE |
GOOD/PROFIT/BENEFICIAL | BAD/LOSS/DAMAGE |
LOOKING GOOD | AVOID LOOKING BAD |
Almost everything you & I do, did or will do will fall into one of these eight boxes.
We spend almost all our lives doing, saying or feeling in one or the other of eight boxes.
It fails to give us any lasting satisfaction. The cost is huge, yet not apparent.
The last two boxes – Looking Good / Avoid Looking Bad is the 21st century favourite.
But its been around ever since Adam and Eve.
And I don’t mean only physically looking good.
This is the trap of Being Human.
The wiring of Being Human.
The way out? That’s another story. For another day.

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes. – Marcel Proust
