The all-in-one superman

Take a cricket team. Can one man be Wicket-Keeper, Batsman and Bowler all at once?

Take a football team. Can one man be Goalie, Center-Forward and Referee all at once?

Obviously, the answer is NO!

But few people realise this is even more true in life.

We have a multiplicity of civic organisations, run essentially as one man’s fiefdom. And then he complains that no one else “participates” on his diktats.

This failure of Governance can be seen all the way from the very top of the Political system (in parties and even in Government) to the very bottom in Civic Groups.

When one person abrogates all wisdom and power to himself, utter bankruptcy in governance results. He’s playing Batsman, Bowler and Wicket-Keeper all at once. Yet wonders why there’s no “team” spirit!

A power monger’s inability to inspire and enrol people into participation results in his own downfall after causing incalculable harm to the society.

The Old English Adage fits right in. “Put a round peg in a round hole.” i.e. Put the right man for the right job. The best hands on, street walker is unlikely to be the best planner. Or designer. Or thinker. But it takes some level of self-introspection to realise this simple but potent truth.

A true leader is one who’ll find the right man for the right job. And will never be blackmailed by one who wants to throw his weight around; or a loud mouth.

Like I said yesterday, this is Kali Yuga.
