The Bangalore Garbage situation epitomises the apathy of the Indian middle class to all except money and entertainment.
The city is swimming in stinking garbage, but the affluent middle class goes under-garbage diving daily as though nothing is the matter.
The IT Tzars wanted a sky way to ride to their fiefdoms and the elevated road miraculously appeared in two years. They give sermons on CSR [corporate social responsibility] and appear on TV at the drop of a hat to give us their pearls of wisdom. But where are they when the city sinks in its own soup?
No, the middle class knows no middle ground. Only extremes of baying for blood or bathing in entertainment.
The largest beneficiaries of India’s prosperity (not biggest, but largest) are but leaches that suck on every drop of the public blood.
