Ms Bedi,
I noted with great interest your “defence” of the Civil Society members – the Bhushans – on the Lokpal Bill panel.
Essentially you said “Its is for the Bhushans to answer for their “personal” matters. They are on the panel purely for their legal expertise and thats all.” Right?
If that were the case, who better than to have on the GOM for Lokpal Bill than Sharad Pawar, a known master crook duly attached by Anna Hazare and evicted from the GOM? After all, it’s best to set a master crook to catch crooks! He’ll bring in the devious mind necessary to frame a law that’ll be difficult to evade, with all the others watching with a hawk’s eye to ensure there are no loop holes?
You see, that argument FAILS to carry any conviction, especially with you and the Aaam Admi.
So does the sacrifice of credibility of a “truth” movement like the IAC simply to defend an indefinsible position simply because you all indulge in mindless stubbornness (but expect GOI not to) and put the interests of the ”movement” behind those of your collective egos?
There are plenty of SUPERIOR legal minds in India than politician-lawyer Shanti Bhushan. He shouldn’t have even been allowed near the dias, if you had applied the rule to him like all other politicians! That’s NO DIFFERENT FROM WHAT THE POLITICIANS DO – different rules for “favoured” people (aka nepotism). Now the movement is paying for it!
You are the LAST PERSON I thought would defend the indefensible. Sad, the politics is also getting to you. I guess name & fame does that to all humans.
Yours truly,
JS
