Now the movement is paying for his stubbornness in placing personalities above principles that he himself espouses.
Worse, he attacked Sharad Pawar and asked for and got the Minister’s resignation from the GOI committee chairmanship. Now that two of his own men are being questioned, shouldn’t the same principles apply? The “Ceaser’s wife ….” part?
WHY is Anna Hazare now practising double standards?
Much as I am a follower of Anna Hazare now, I can’t get myself to abandon my senses 2 b a blind follower. As I see it, I am a follower of what Anna Stands for, not the personality.
In fact it seems flawed since all this hullabaloo has flowed directly from Anna’s mindless haste error in picking Shanti Bhushan and he’s unwilling to quickly admit it and remedy the situation thats leading to this bleeding of the momentum. EGO.
When Shanti Bhushan was a minister & politician, how come he was allowed “on stage” when other politicians were “forbidden”?
Anna Hazare, unless you want to let the people of India down, own up and make amends. Replace the Bhushans – they can always advise you from the outside! In this Bhushan affair, it is Anna who comes out as inflexible, intractable and rigid.
If it means a “parivartan” is needed at the “top” then so be it, since this isn’t a one night stand but a movement that’s only just begun! The Lokpal bill is but only a tool to fight corruption, albeit a very important one. Fighting endemic corruption is a long journey. How much must the movement be damaged before Ppl stop sticking to their posts?
Stepping down (not out) of the IAC will signify that they put the IAC movement above themselves. It’s not about being guilty or not! Saying “I’ll step down if anything is proved” is exactly the same language that politicians use. But this is a voluntary movement, not a government position. The norms must be tighter and severe in their application to retain the trust of Ppl.
Pity that stepping down (not out) of the drafting panel is being seen as defeat by the IAC Heads. That’s pure ego. The more the Bhushan exit is delayed, the more the forces of corruption will make capital out of it. Exactly as the delay in GOI response did to Anna’s demands for a Lokpal bill.
