The only significant statement you make is “But then he is the Prime Minister, and he speaks so rarely, that every opportunity seems a godsend.” – an indication of how important TRPs are to you. The rest is just gobar gas, as usual.
This is where you make the cardinal mistake.
Knowing that the PM will make no noise other than dish out vague platitudes, as a discerning editor you ought to actually relegate it to mere live reporting so you keep your TRPs. And since it happened at 11am, it ought to be absent by 9 pm.
By giving so much airtime to non-events of the PM, you only glorify the “scarcity” of PM’s remarks instead of representing the PM for what he is: a non-entity.
