I went to the IAC ‘march’ at the Gandhi Statute on MG Road and found some 20 people wearing ‘Volunteer’ tags and some 20 others, a third or more of whom were 50+. After hanging around for about one hour to see if “something” would happen, I left disappointed.
The volunteers had plenty of placards but not enough people to hold them up!
A printed leaflet gave a contact number and 12 salient features of a Lokpal bill drafted by celebrities. So what were people who responded to the call and came do? Why were people called?
Apparently the organisers wanted more to pose for some pictures & video bites that obviously would be fed to the media for some personal glory.
All in all, pathetically amateurish and self glorifying.
Isn’t this corruption of another kind?
