PTI: “India and US sign Counter Terrorism Initiative” ~ IF this is effectively implemented, the strangulation of funds to terrorists will be a telling blow. But more often than not, the US’s selective choice of what Terrorists it wants to counter will make this agreement yet another instrument of US policy instead of a global fight in which India has a vital stake.

India on the other hand has its own leaky sieve – the Havala network is now an almost parallel banking network for Politicians, Businessmen and, ofcourse, terrorists and criminals. Will GOI crack down on the Havala Network? It is reported that Havala even uses the money transfer network of Western Union which operates all over the world, including South Asia (read: Pakistan).
