The rate at which the anti-congress sentiment is growing and the disgust with a puppet prime minister who uses his ‘clean’ image to help cover up deep rot & corruption will not surprise anyone if the government falls under it’s own rotten weight.
That they can’t possibly win will ensure that congress will try and last the whole term till 2014, hoping for a miracle to happen. The only two known miracles are a war with Pakistan or a Peace with Pakistan. The latter will have the added bonus of a Nobel Peace Prize for yet another most Undeserving person – Manmohan Singh.
The cost will again be bourne by the common man. But the common man will not be swayed. Dumb and easily ‘bought’ as he may appear, the common man will use his vote to say his peace.
The weight of a rotten GOI will help the incredibly stupid opposition to bring down he government – if the opposition stays out of the way.
That would mean a general election before 2014.
But if the opposition thinks it will ‘add’ to the downward spiral of the Congress, it will help it last till 2014.
The real pity is that Indians have NO great alternative. But, like in Tamil Nadu, they will opt for a lesser evil I guess. Who knows, maybe the BJP will have learnt the one lesson that both the main parties need to learn: India wants a TRULY federal structure with Delhi sticking to it’s assigned roles.
