If you Google it, you’ll get around 50,80,000 results for Bangalore alone! They range from one room cages to posh outfits. From dilapilated ‘establishments’ to outfits that are proclaimed as five star homes and clubs rolled into one.
As India’s population ages, there will be an explosion of demand. In fact, with working couples, these high end offerings are already finding takers – “everything” is supposedly taken care of so even the upwardly mobile couples are found at such establishments. Especially those without children to complicate matters.
I live in one such “posh” outfits and am “learning” their operations from the inside as a customer.
Having searched from Kasauli (H.P.) to Kanyakumari (T.N.) over 6-7 years, I’ve visited some, researched many and so on…. only to choose one in my own backyard in Bangalore.
As we searched, we had a checklist of things we felt we must have at the offering we chose. There were a few core must-have items and some ‘desireable’ items and then a few ‘fancy’ things that would be icing on the cake after a long and well deserved lifetime of work.
This blog is a starter to share my experience of living in one such ‘Senior Citizen Serviced Apartment’. I am a ‘realist’ if there can be one. When I ‘think’ no aspect is taboo, though I’ll evaluate all and chose the one that best fits reality.
